Caring For Your Bamboo Pillow: How To Wash In 4 Simple Steps

More people are starting to realize that the bedding plays a pivotal role in the quality of your sleep. Seeing as it can impact your health in more ways than one, jumping eco-friendly bandwagon is a trend that is only going upwards as it offers plenty of long-lasting benefits.

Beyond contributing to the environment, investing in organic bedding can do wonders for giving you sweet dreams every night. Speaking of which, one of the most popular choices in the market is bamboo pillows. Known as a strong yet highly flexible plant, it transforms into one of the softest fabrics, almost like you’re snoozing on cloud nine.

Taking Care Of Your Bamboo Pillows

Bamboo is one of the most hypo-allergenic textiles and often comes with shredded memory foam, so giving it some TLC every now and then is crucial if you want to maximize its full potential.

Washing it is recommended to keep it fresh and clean, but you can’t just chuck it in the washing machine. Seeing as it’s made with memory foam, it requires a gentler, hands-on approach to ensure the pillow retains its shape for years to come. Here’s how you can do it easily:

Step #1: Wash The Pillow Cover Using A Washing Machine

You can’t clean the pillow using a washing machine, but there’s no trouble using it for cleaning the covers. Be sure to use a mild detergent and set the machine to a gentle cycle, using a moderate temperature to keep the fabrics from falling at the seams. You can dry the bamboo cover inside the machine, but it’s best to air-dry it naturally.

Step #2: Hand Wash The Memory Foam

After washing the bamboo covers, you can eliminate the sweats, dust particles, and other residues stuck in the pillow’s fabric by hand washing it using a mild detergent. Dip it in lukewarm water, which is typically between 30 to 40 degrees Celsius. Leave the memory foam to sink into the liquid before gently squeezing the soap out.

Step #3: Soak The Memory Foam

After giving it an initial soak and squeezing the water out of the foam, leave it to settle into the soapy water for a maximum of fifteen minutes.

Step #4: Rinse The Pillow Thoroughly

After fifteen minutes, take the memory foam out of the soapy water and put it onto a new bin with fresh, warm water. Squeeze the pillow to get rid of the soap, rinse thoroughly, and repeat the process until all the detergent is removed.

Step #5: Hang The Pillow To Air-Dry

After washing the pillow, you can let it dry overnight, but be sure it’s away from direct sunlight as high temperatures can damage the foam. Hang it over a drying rack to ensure the foam maintains its shape.

The Bottom Line: Keeping Your Bamboo Pillows Fresh And Clean

Cleaning your pillows is an important part of maintaining a good hygiene and extending the lifespan of your bedding.
